Vantage Africa Case Study

IDLO Training for State Counsel - Kenya

Strengthening leadership capacity in data, culture, and change management for justice sector professionals.

Senior legal professionals engaged in leadership training in Kenya

Client Overview

The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) partnered with Vantage Africa School of Leadership to deliver a high-level capacity-building program for senior State Counsel from the Advocates' Complaints Commission (ACC) in Kenya. This initiative aimed to enhance strategic leadership competencies critical to advancing justice and accountability.

Identified Gap

Despite their strong legal expertise, many senior counsel lacked skills in data-driven decision-making, organizational culture transformation, and change management. These gaps limited their ability to adapt to digital transformation, institutional reforms, and the complexities of public sector leadership.

How Training Was Conducted

The training took place at Maanzoni Lodge, Machakos County, over two intensive and interactive days. Using adult learning methodologies such as group discussions, leadership simulations, scenario analysis, and peer forums, participants engaged deeply with the content and reflected on their roles as institutional leaders.

Day 1: Data-Driven Leadership & Organizational Culture

Day 2: Change Management & Leadership in Action

Training Outcome

Participants gained practical tools for data analytics, leading cultural change, and managing institutional transitions. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the training’s relevance and long-term impact in strengthening Kenya’s justice system leadership capacity.
