Case Study

Empowering LWF Kenya-Somalia with Vibrant M&E Training

Humanitarian staff in Kenya and Somalia engaged in monitoring and evaluation training

Client Overview

Lutheran World Federation (LWF) World Service Kenya-Somalia is a humanitarian organization with a commitment to humanitarian action for refugees and vulnerable communities of Kenya and Somalia. In Kenya, the LWF supports and implements projects focusing on education, livelihoods, and protection in difficult environments such as the Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps. The mission is to ensure greater development and the resilience of their clientele through their programs.

Identified Gap

LWF staff across Kakuma, Dadaab, Nairobi, and Kismayu exhibited varying degrees of theoretical familiarity with M&E but lacked the practical abilities required to secure quality project implementation and results-based reporting. In the absence of specific M&E knowledge, their capacity to develop appropriate tools, manage data, and produce project reports aligned with LWF/WS Kenya-Somalia's strategic objectives was restrained. A critical gap existed that needed to be addressed through site-specific training to equip staff to cascade M&E knowledge to their teams.
