WHY THIS PROGRAMME?

At the end of the training, we don’t ask: “Did you write it down?”
We ask: “Could the next person find it when they need it?”

Organisations lose what they know every time somebody resigns, a project closes or a team is reorganised. It was never written down, or it was written somewhere nobody looks.

◎

See what the organisation actually holds

An audit that shows what is known, who knows it, and how much of that would walk out of the door with them.

✧

Make learning a routine, not an event

After-action reviews with a date in the calendar, lessons that reach the next project, and somebody who owns each of them.

THE VANTAGE DIFFERENCE

We build what people actually use — not folders nobody opens.

A shared drive with everything on it and nothing findable is the same as having nothing. The test of knowledge management is whether the next person makes a better decision because of what the last one left behind.

✕WHAT WE AVOID

  • Knowledge management taught as choosing software
  • Shared drives that quietly become dumping grounds
  • Lessons written up carefully and never read again

✓WHAT WE DO

  • An audit of what your organisation actually holds
  • A shared library somebody owns and keeps current
  • Learning routines with a place in the calendar
THE 14-TOPIC JOURNEY

14 practical topics. An organisation that remembers.

The pathway is designed around what you will be able to do. You begin guided virtual learning as soon as you register, then build on it during three practical days in Nairobi, 15–17 March 2027.

6 Topics

VIRTUAL · START IMMEDIATELY

What you already know, who holds it, and the conditions that let an organisation learn.

8 Topics

PHYSICAL · 15–17 MARCH 2027

Three focused days building the filing structure, the routines and the strategy, in Nairobi.

01 Register & start learning 02 6 virtual topics 03 8 physical topics · 15–17 Mar 04 Build & defend your plan

Proposed allocation: topics 1–6 are guided online and cover the audit and the conditions for learning; topics 7–14 are worked through during the three physical days, where the filing structure, the lessons process and the strategy are built.

YOUR PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

By the end of the training, this is what you will be able to do.

Explore each topic below. The real test is whether somebody who was not there can use what you left.

A CERTIFICATE HAS TO MEAN SOMETHING

How do we know anybody would use it?

Knowledge management fails quietly: the system exists and nobody opens it. What gets checked here is whether each piece has an owner, whether a stranger could find it, and whether a routine puts it in front of people at the moment they need it.

Join the 14-topic pathway →
1
Audit something real

A team, a project or a function in your own organisation, not a hypothetical one.

2
Name what would be lost

Who holds what, and what the organisation could not do without them.

3
Build the structure

Naming, ownership and review dates — enough that a stranger could find things.

4
Write one lesson properly

From a real project, in a form the next team could actually act on.

5
Put it in the calendar

A learning routine with a date, an owner and a first session agreed.

WHAT YOU TAKE BACK TO WORK

Take back an organisation that remembers.

The reference material comes with the programme. The thing worth carrying home is the audit you ran on your own organisation, the structure you built for what it holds, and a learning routine with a date against it — argued through with facilitators and peers before anyone has to live with it.

Knowledge audit of a team, project or function
Knowledge map with critical roles and single points of failure
Continuity and handover checklist
A filing structure with owners and review dates
Documentation standard and template
After-action review format
Lessons log that routes to a decision-maker
Knowledge-sharing strategy with its metrics
Your organisation’s own learning routine — designed and reviewed during training

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW
✦ HOW ORGANISATIONS FORGET

Knowledge leaves quietly.

Most of what an organisation knows sits in people’s heads rather than its files, and it goes wherever they go. A resignation, a retirement, a secondment, a reorganisation, a project that simply ends — each one takes the history, the relationships, the reasons behind decisions and the workarounds with it, and the next person begins again from nothing.

What this programme protects

Continuity you can plan for.

A map of who holds what. A handover that passes on the reasoning, not just the passwords. Somewhere the next person can actually search. Lessons that reach the team that needs them.

People move on. Losing what they knew is a choice.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything clear before you decide.

What makes this different from other knowledge management courses?

The programme is built around practical work rather than attendance. You audit your own organisation, build the structure, write a real lesson and leave with a routine that has a date against it.

Do I have to work through all 14 topics?

Yes. The pathway covers all 14 topics, 6 guided online and 8 in the room, subject to the programme’s formal assessment decisions.

How are the online and physical topics taught?

The first 6 are introduced through guided online work before the workshop and cover the audit and the conditions for learning. The remaining 8 form the focus of the three physical days in Nairobi, where the filing structure, the lessons process and the strategy are built.

Does the $80 count toward the total fee?

Yes. Under the standard-fee pathway, the $80 initial payment counts toward $580 and leaves $500 payable. The $480 offer is for early full payment, not the instalment plan.

When and where exactly is the physical training?

The programme is planned for Nairobi, Kenya on 15–17 March 2027. The exact venue will be confirmed by the Vantage Africa team before a final booking commitment.

Do I need to buy software first?

No. The programme is about practice, ownership and routines. Those have to be right before any tool helps, and once they are, most tools will do.

Can my organisation sponsor me or request a group course?

Yes. Contact Vantage Africa for an invitation letter, invoice or a tailored in-house proposal.
