WHY PPM?

At the end of the training, we don’t ask: “Have you managed a project before?”
We ask: “Can we see the plan you would run it with?”

Most projects are not lost in delivery. They are lost in a plan that was never realistic: a budget nobody tested, a schedule built backwards from a deadline, risks listed once and never looked at again.

◎

Plan before you promise

Scope the work, sequence it and know what it will cost before you commit to a date in front of anyone.

✧

See trouble while it is still small

Track against the plan, spot slippage in the numbers early, and decide what to do while you still can.

THE VANTAGE DIFFERENCE

We build plans that last the whole project — not plans that only win approval.

A plan written to get a signature and a plan written to be worked from are not the same document. This programme trains you to produce the second one — and to still be working from it on the last day.

✕WHAT WE AVOID

  • Project management taught as a tour of the terminology
  • Budgets and schedules worked backwards from a deadline
  • Templates filled in once and never opened again

✓WHAT WE DO

  • A full plan for a project you are actually responsible for
  • A budget and a schedule you can defend line by line
  • Numbers you have to explain to someone who will check them
THE 12-TOPIC JOURNEY

12 practical topics. One project you can actually deliver.

The pathway is designed around what you will be able to do. You begin guided virtual learning as soon as you register, then build on it during three practical days in Nairobi, 15–17 February 2027.

5 Topics

VIRTUAL · START IMMEDIATELY

The groundwork — how projects and their processes actually fit together.

7 Topics

PHYSICAL · 15–17 FEBRUARY 2027

Three focused days building the plan, the budget, the logframe and the risk register in Nairobi.

01 Register & start learning 02 5 virtual topics 03 7 physical topics · 15–17 Feb 04 Build & defend your plan

Proposed allocation: topics 1–5 are guided online and cover the groundwork; topics 6–12 are worked through during the three physical days, where the planning tools get built. Every topic is drawn from the current Vantage project management curriculum.

YOUR PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

By the end of the training, this is what you will be able to do.

Explore each topic below. The real test is whether you can use it on a project with your name against it.

A CERTIFICATE HAS TO MEAN SOMETHING

How do we know the plan would actually hold?

Any plan looks fine until somebody checks the arithmetic. What gets checked here is whether the schedule and the budget agree with each other, whether the logframe matches what you said you would do, and whether the risks are ones you have actually thought about.

Join the 12-topic pathway →
1
Bring a project with your name on it

Funded or still an idea — but yours, not a worked example.

2
Scope it and sequence it

What is in, what is out, what has to happen before what, and who does it.

3
Put numbers on it

A budget you can justify line by line and a logframe that agrees with it.

4
Say what could go wrong

Risks, assumptions, and what you would actually do about each one.

5
Hand it to someone else

Explain it to a peer who was not in the room and let them find the holes.

WHAT YOU TAKE BACK TO WORK

Take a finished project plan back to work.

The recorded sessions and reference material come with the programme. The thing worth carrying home is the plan you built for your own project — scoped, costed, scheduled and stress-tested by facilitators and peers before it ever reaches a funder or a board.

Concept note and scope statement
Theory of change for your project
Work breakdown and activity schedule
Logical framework matched to the plan
Project budget with costings you can defend
Risk register with mitigation and owners
Stakeholder analysis and communication plan
Your own project’s full plan — built and reviewed during training

WHAT THE PROGRAMME COVERS
✦ CONCEPT TO CLOSE‑OUT

Project management is more than a budget and a deadline.

Most short courses sell a piece: a budgeting day, a logframe workshop, a risk session. You come away able to do one thing and still unable to put a project together. This one runs the full arc — the idea and the thinking behind it, the plan, the money, the logframe, the monitoring, the risks, and the career the work builds.

Why the project exists. What it will produce. What it costs and whether it is worth doing. How you will know it is working. What could stop it. Where the work takes you next.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything clear before you decide.

What makes this different from other project management courses?

The programme is built around practical work rather than attendance. You plan a project of your own, cost it, schedule it and defend the numbers, and leave with a plan rather than a set of notes.

Do I have to work through all 12 topics?

Yes. The pathway covers all 12 topics, 5 guided online and 7 in the room, subject to the programme’s formal assessment decisions.

How are the online and physical topics taught?

The first 5 are introduced through guided online work before the workshop and cover the groundwork. The remaining 7 form the focus of the three physical days in Nairobi, where the plan, the budget, the logframe and the risk register get built.

Does the $80 count toward the total fee?

Yes. Under the standard-fee pathway, the $80 initial payment counts toward $580 and leaves $500 payable. The $480 offer is for early full payment, not the instalment plan.

When and where exactly is the physical training?

The programme is planned for Nairobi, Kenya on 15–17 February 2027. The exact venue will be confirmed by the Vantage Africa team before a final booking commitment.

Do I need to be a project manager already?

No. The programme suits anyone responsible for delivering work to a budget and a deadline, as well as project officers and programme staff who want the planning tools properly.

Can my organisation sponsor me or request a group course?

Yes. Contact Vantage Africa for an invitation letter, invoice or a tailored in-house proposal.
