WHY THIS PROGRAMME?

At the end of the training, we don’t ask: “Did they clap?”
We ask: “Did you deliver it confidently, and did it land?”

Two things decide how a talk goes: whether you know exactly what you are there to say, and whether you are confident enough to say it. This programme works on both, and most people find the confidence follows once the message is settled.

◎

Build the message first

A sentence they can repeat once you have left the room, and an opening that earns you the rest of the slot.

✧

Stop performing, start landing

Nerves handled with technique rather than willpower, tics gone, and the hard question answered without losing the room.

THE VANTAGE DIFFERENCE

We make you worth listening to — not just less nervous.

Confidence without a message is a composed person wasting the room’s time. The nerves do get dealt with — properly, with technique — but the work is in what you are actually saying and why anybody should care.

✕WHAT WE AVOID

  • Presentation skills taught as posture and eye contact
  • Slides written out in full and then read aloud
  • Confidence treated as the only goal

✓WHAT WE DO

  • A message built before a single slide
  • Nerves handled with technique, not willpower
  • Rehearsal in front of people who tell you the truth
THE 14-TOPIC JOURNEY

14 practical topics. A room that listens.

The pathway is designed around what you will be able to do. You begin guided virtual learning as soon as you register, then build on it during three practical days in Nairobi, 12–14 April 2027.

6 Topics

VIRTUAL · START IMMEDIATELY

The audience, the message and the structure — everything before you stand up.

8 Topics

PHYSICAL · 12–14 APRIL 2027

Three focused days on your feet, in front of a room that will tell you the truth, in Nairobi.

01 Register & start learning 02 6 virtual topics 03 8 physical topics · 12–14 Apr 04 Build & defend your plan

Proposed allocation: topics 1–6 are guided online and cover the audience, the message and the structure; topics 7–14 are worked through during the three physical days, which are spent on your feet.

YOUR PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

By the end of the training, this is what you will be able to do.

Explore each topic below. The real test is whether somebody can repeat your point a week later.

WHEREVER YOU HAVE TO SPEAK

Six situations. Everybody recognises at least one.

When you are the one speaking

A speech, a presentation, a briefing, a few words at an event. Prepared, timed, and judged on whether the point landed.

When you are answering

Panels, interviews, questions from the floor. Short answers under pressure, with no time to think.

When you did not expect to speak

Called on with no warning, often from your own chair. The one most people fear, and the one you can rehearse for.

When the news is bad

Saying the difficult thing plainly, and still being in the room afterwards.

When you are on a screen

A camera, a muted room and no faces to read. Everything that carries you in person is gone.

When the room outranks you

More senior, more experienced and not inclined to wait. Being brief is the whole skill.

A CERTIFICATE HAS TO MEAN SOMETHING

How do we know you are ready for the real room?

Applause is not evidence. What gets checked here is whether your point survives being repeated by somebody else, whether it still holds when the slot is cut in half, and whether you can deliver it anyway when the room is full and your hands are not entirely under your control.

1
Bring something you actually have to say

A real talk, pitch or briefing that is already in your diary.

2
Build the message

One line they could repeat, and the three points that earn it.

3
Stand up and deliver it

Early, and before you feel ready — which is the only way anything changes.

4
Take the hard questions

From peers briefed to ask the ones you were hoping nobody would.

5
Cut it in half and go again

Because the slot always shrinks, and usually on the morning.

WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH

A talk you have already given three times.

The reference material comes with the programme. The thing worth carrying home is a talk you built, delivered and rebuilt in front of people who had no reason to flatter you — so the first audience to hear it is not the one that mattered.

Audience analysis for a talk you actually have to give
A one-line message and the three points that carry it
A full speech or presentation outline
An opening and a closing worth remembering
Written feedback on each of your deliveries
A verbal-tic and pacing checklist
A hard-question and panel response plan
Your own talk delivered and rebuilt — during training

A talk, not just a certificate

Observable work, feedback and practical checks — and a talk you have already given three times, to people who told you the truth.

HOW ANYBODY ACTUALLY IMPROVES
✦ YOU SPEAK ON DAY ONE

Nobody ever read their way out of nerves.

Most speaking courses keep the speaking until the end, when there is no time left to fix anything. Here you are on your feet from the first day, and more than once, because speaking is the only thing that has ever made anybody better at it. You speak, you hear the truth, you go again.

Repetition, not theory

Three deliveries, not one.

An early attempt, so you can see where you are starting from. Another once the message work is done. A final one in front of the same people, who have watched the whole distance.

Honest feedback from peers and facilitators every time.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything clear before you decide.

What makes this different from other public speaking courses?

The programme is built around practical work rather than attendance. You build a real message, deliver it three times, take hard questions from peers and rebuild it each time on what they tell you.

Do I have to work through all 14 topics?

Yes. The pathway covers all 14 topics, 6 guided online and 8 in the room, subject to the programme’s formal assessment decisions.

How are the online and physical topics taught?

The first 6 are introduced through guided online work before the workshop and cover the audience, the message and the structure. The remaining 8 form the focus of the three physical days in Nairobi, which are spent on your feet.

Does the $80 count toward the total fee?

Yes. Under the standard-fee pathway, the $80 initial payment counts toward $580 and leaves $500 payable. The $480 offer is for early full payment, not the instalment plan.

When and where exactly is the physical training?

The programme is planned for Nairobi, Kenya on 12–14 April 2027. The exact venue will be confirmed by the Vantage Africa team before a final booking commitment.

I am terrified of speaking. Is this for me?

Particularly. Three of the 14 topics are given to anxiety, fear and stage presence, and everybody in the room is there for the same reason. The first delivery is short and deliberately early.

How much of it is me speaking?

Most of the three days. You deliver early, again after the message work and once at the end, each time to the same group, who can see how far you have come.

Can my organisation sponsor me or request a group course?

Yes. Contact Vantage Africa for an invitation letter, invoice or a tailored in-house proposal.
